Last year we did The Legendary Silk Road from Ashgabat to Almaty and would like to do it again. Hi, Here are my impressions on the Legendary Silk Road Train Journey. We flew to Ashgabat via Frankfurt. Upon arrival, we were met by an English speaking guide who was very knowledgeable and loaded us with lots of interesting information about Turkmenistan. Ashgabat was very nice and clean, the weather was fantastic, about 26 degrees C. On the train, there were 12 English speakers and we made friends with each other immediately. Our guide Timur spoke perfect English and was very friendly. He helped us in every possible matter. The train staff was Russian or Uzbek so Timur helped us a lot to comunicate with them. The service and the food in the restaurant car were good, very good, to be exact. Most of our train travel was by night.
