VILNIUS- KLAIPEDA - RIGA - TALLINN
Your exciting eight-day private Baltic tour starts today! After arrival in Vilnius, you will be met by your private driver and transferred to Vilnius hotel. The rest of the day is for rest or exploration of the city on your own. Optional tours are available.
Vilnius is known for its medieval buildings and beautiful churches. In the morning your private guide will invite you for a walking tour of the Old Town: The Cathedral, The Upper Castle, St. Anne’s Church, Old University, Peter and Paul Church, and the Gates of Dawn. In the afternoon - an excursion to Trakai, the medieval capital of Lithuania. Its well preserved Trakai Castle is located on an island in Lake Galve. The balance of the day is spent en route to Klaipeda, where we arrive late afternoon. Check-in at hotel.
Today you will have a full-day tour to the Curonian Spit. It is a narrow stretch of land between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon with small fishing villages, pine forests and endless dunes. After the first stop at the Hill of Witches in Juodkrante, we will continue to Nida, where we will visit the High Dunes, Thomas Mann’s summerhouse and get acquainted with the charming resort town. In the evening we will return to Klaipeda. In the evening you can choose an optional Lithuanian dinner at the 19th-century Restaurant.
Klaipeda has a long history as a German town called Memel. It became a part of Lithuania only in 1923. A sightseeing tour will take you to the Old Town with its narrow, cobblestone streets and old guild houses. You will visit the Theatre Square and the Aennchen von Tharau Fountain. Then you will continue to the Samogitia National Park, where you will enjoy a walking tour around the picturesque Lake Plateliai. Further, we continue to Hill of Crosses, a holy site of Catholic Lithuania. Then you will head North into Latvia and reach Riga in the afternoon, check-in at the hotel.
Founded in 1201 by Bishop Albert, Riga is the largest of the three Baltic capitals and boasts a kaleidoscope of various architectural styles. On the walking tour in the Old Town, you will see Riga Castle, Large and Small Guild House, Three Brothers, St. Peter’s Church, Dome Cathedral, Swedish Gates, and the Freedom Monument. The afternoon is reserved for an optional visit to the famous Latvian sea resort of Jurmala, known for its wooden architecture and sandy beaches. In the evening enjoy a Latvian dinner at the Restaurant Muusu.
Today we will be driving along the coastal highway to Parnu, the Estonian summer resort. We will do a short tour of the resort and continue through the forests of Northern Estonia and arrive in Tallinn early afternoon, check-in at the hotel.
Tallinn is a charming capital of Estonia blending medieval tranquillity and modern life. The medieval Old Town is busy with locals and tourists browsing its many shops, markets, galleries, cafés, bars, and restaurants. The walking tour will take you into the Old Town where you will see Toompea Castle, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Dome Church, the Old Town Hall, and Great Guild Hall. In the afternoon you can take an excursion to Kadriorg Park and KUMU, the award-winning new Estonian Art Museum, displaying collections of classic and contemporary fine art. In the evening an optional medieval-style dinner at Restaurant Maikrahv. Overnight in Tallinn.
