Before travelling in Russia or any international destination, consider your security and health. Russia is a large and safe country, but make sure to get some information about personal safety in each city you plan to travel. Travel with copies of your passport in case it gets stolen, and be sure to leave a copy of your passport with a friend or family member at home. Nowadays, you can even save a copy in your email in case of emergency. It is always advisable to register with your embassy in case of a problem (such as natural disaster) in your country of travel; this will make it easier for authorities to contact you and return you home safely. Finally, ALWAYS purchase travel insurance before entering Russia to ensure you are covered in case of accident.
