Itinerary:

This private tour of Krakow and its surroundings includes visiting some of the city's most famous landmarks, such as Wawel Castle, which was the residence of Polish kings for centuries and containsa variety of museums and art collections. Additionally, you will take a day trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the oldest operating salt mines in the world, featuring underground chapels and statues carved out of salt. Other popular landmarks around Krakow include the Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory, the Old Synagogue and the Remuh Synagogue, and the Galicia Jewish Museum.

Day 1  : Krakow Old Town and Wavel Castle

Krakow Old Town and visit to Wavel Castle (duration - 5 hours)

Upon arrival in Krakow you will be picked up from the airport or train station and transfered to your hotel. Depending on your arriavl time, we will schedule your Krakow sightseeing.

Krakow Old Town is a historic district located in the center of the city of Krakow, Poland. It is known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, which has earned it the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old Town is home to many landmarks and attractions, including the Main Market Square, one of the largest medieval town squares in Europe, which is home to the St. Mary's Basilica and the Town Hall Tower. You will explore the Gothic and Renaissance buildings, such as the St. Florian's Church, the St. Peter and Paul Church, and the Cloth Hall.

The Old Town is also home to the Wawel Castle, which was the residence of Polish kings for centuries and contains a variety of museums and art collections. Day 2  : Auschwitz and Birkenau

The tour starts with a pick-up from your hotel in Krakow and a short drive to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, which is located about an hour and a half from the city.

Once at the Memorial, you'll have a guided tour of the Auschwitz I camp, which was the main camp and the administrative center of the complex. The tour will take you through the camp's main buildings, including the infamous "Arbeit Macht Frei" gate and the prison blocks, where you'll learn about the daily lives of the prisoners and the conditions they endured. You'll also see exhibits displaying personal belongings and photographs of the victims.

After visiting Auschwitz I, you'll continue on to Birkenau, also known as Auschwitz II, which was the largest of the camps and the site of the majority of the mass killings. You'll see the remains of the gas chambers and crematoria, as well as the barracks where the prisoners lived.

Day 3  : Zakopane

A day trip from Krakow to Zakopane is a popular excursion for those looking to experience the natural beauty of the Tatra Mountains. a drive to Zakopane takes abou 1.5 hours. Once in Zakopane, your private guide will show you  the town, known as the "Winter Capital of Poland" due to its popularity as a ski resort and its traditional mountain architecture. You will take a stroll down Krupówki Street, the main pedestrian street in Zakopane, and browse the local shops, restaurants and cafes. 

One of the main attractions in Zakopane is a visit to the Tatra National Park, where you can take a short hike or a cable car to the top of Mount Gubalowka for panoramic views of the Tatra Mountains. You can also visit the Museum of the Highlanders and the Ethnographic Museum, which showcase the local culture and history of the Tatra region.

The day trip ends with a return drive back to Krakow in the evening, giving you a chance to experience the beauty and culture of the Tatra Mountains in one day.

Day 4  : Wieliczka Salt Mines

Afte breakfast, we will take you on a private drive to the Wieliczka Salt Mine for a guided tour of the mine's underground chambers and tunnels, led by a knowledgeable guide. The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest operating salt mines in the world, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour will allow you to explore the mine's winding corridors and subterranean lakes, while learning about the history and the mining methods used over the centuries.

During the tour, you will have the opportunity to see the underground chapels and statues carved out of salt, such as the Chapel of St. Kinga, the main underground chapel, which is adorned with chandeliers, altarpieces and sculptures all made of salt.

A guided tour will allow you to skip the line and avoid the crowds, giving you more time to enjoy the mine's underground beauty and to take pictures. Your guide will provide detailed information about the history and the mining methods used, as well as interesting stories and legends associated with the mine, making it an enriching and educational experience.

The tour usually ends with a visit to the Saltworks Museum, where you can see artifacts and tools used by the miners throughout the centuries, and the souvenir shop where you can purchase items made from salt.

Day 5  : Kazimierz and Schindler's Factory
