Zosima Shashkov

Motorship “Zosima Shashkov”

Zosima Shashkov, part of Vodohod’s fleet of river cruise ships, is a four-deck vessel that has been purpose-built for sailing along the waterways of Europe. This vessel, which bears the name of a minister of the Sea and River Fleet of the USSR, was built in 1986 and can hold up to 296 passengers. Zosima Shashkov was fully refurbished -- receiving an upgrade to its facilities -- in 2012.

All of the accommodations onboard Zosima Shashkov are outside cabins which feature air conditioning and en suite bathrooms. Most of the cabins -- excluding those on the lower deck -- offer large windows.

Entertainment onboard Zosima Shashkov includes live performances by Russian folk musicians and classical musicians, as well as Russian cultural and historical activities, such as Russian singing, dancing and nesting doll painting lessons. For a true taste of Russia, passengers can take part in a vodka tasting and Russian tea ceremony.

Zosima Shashkov’s two restaurants serve European cuisine, along with traditional Russian fare.

Motorship “Georgy Chicherin”

Georgy Chicherin -- part of Vodohod’s specially designed fleet of river cruise ships -- is a four-deck vessel that was built in Germany in 1984. Named after a famous Marxist revolutionary and Soviet politician, this ship underwent a full refurbishment in 2011 to upgrade and modernize its facilities. Georgy Chicherin can hold up to 280 passengers.

This ship features all outside cabins with en suite bathrooms and air conditioning. Most of the cabins -- excluding those on the lower deck -- have large windows.

Onboard entertainment on Georgy Chicherin aims to give passengers an authentic experience of Russian culture, history and customs. Passengers can take part in various Russian-themed activities, like nesting doll painting classes, a vodka tasting and Russian tea ceremonies, as well as enjoy live musical performances -- ranging from Russian folk to classical music.

Vodohod’s river cruise boat Alexander Pushkin is specifically constructed to navigate European waterways. This four-deck vessel, which bears the name of one of Russia’s most celebrated poets, was built in 1974 and can hold up to 160 passengers. Alexander Pushkin underwent a full refurbishment in 2011, which upgraded and updated its facilities.

All of the accommodations onboard Alexander Pushkin are outside cabins, which feature air conditioning and en suite bathrooms. Cabin classes on this river cruise ship range from singles to two-room suites.

The ship is named after the famous Russian author Leo Tolstoy.

Constructed in Austria using high quality materials and at a much higher cost than other ships, the Tolstoy was designed for high ranking Kremlin officials and to host foreign dignitaries. Today, she is still one of the top ships in Russia, with luxurious decor, large, well-appointed cabins, elegant public areas and wide circular stairs. The Tolstoy accommodates 160 guests, versus 200 – 300 on other ships of similar size.

Standard cabins are 110 square feet – 20% larger than other ships – with large picture windows that open, ample closet space and a makeup table. Bathrooms feature a separate shower area, which is unique for Russian ships. Jr. Suite cabins are 220 square feet with 2 picture windows, a sitting area and two twin beds which can be put together. Spacious suites measure 330 square feet and have 3 picture windows, a dayroom with a TV, a refrigerator, and a separate bedroom. For added space. we store your suitcase for you after you unpack.

The train is well equipped with a restaurant car where meals, typically Russian in style are served. The train also has an on-board doctor, tour director and a team of dedicated on-board staff.

A range of excursions are included throughout the journey, designed to offer a good overview of each destination along the route and in some cases these are experiences that would not be available when traveling by public train. Group sizes for each excursion are at a maximum of 26 people. For days spent on-board, a wide range of lectures and other activities such as caviar and vodka tasting are offered.

The train offers varying classes of travel ranging from standard two-berth compartments with shared washing carriages (Category I) to cabins that offer en suite facilities. Standard plus cabins (Category II and II New) are similar to those found in first class on normal Russian trains, with two lower berths and shared toilet facilities at the end of each carriage. Guests are also able to access shower compartments located in every second or third car.

Nostalgic comfort compartments (Category III), nostalgically furnished but with modern amenities, are well equipped with large upper and lower berths and an armchair. Neighbouring compartments share a small bathroom that is equipped with a handheld shower. Where hotel nights are included within your itinerary, these are in three- and four-star properties. Bolshoi Class (Category IV) is equipped with two bunks, with the lower berth measuring slightly wider than the top at almost two metres. The compartment comes well equipped with a wardrobe, flat-screen television and DVD player. This class also boasts an en suite bathroom that can be turned into a wet shower room. Each carriage in Bolshoi category holds only six compartments with at most 12 guests sharing one carriage. Where hotel nights are included within the trip, these are in four- and five-star properties in Moscow and Beijing and in suites of standard hotels in Ulaan Bataar and Irkutsk.

Bolshoi Platinum (Category V) is the most luxurious class available, boasting the largest compartments offered on-board and similar amenities and berths as found in Bolshoi Class. These compartments also offer larger en suite bathrooms with separate shower cubicles.

MS Princess Maria is a cruiseferry operated by St. Peter Line under charter from DFDS Seaways on a service connecting Helsinki, Finland to St. Petersburg, Russia. She was built in 1981 as Finlandia for Effoa at Wärtsilä's Perno shipyard in Turku, Finland, and placed in service on Silja Line's Helsinki—Stockholm service. In 1990 she was sold to DFDS Seaways and renamed Queen of Scandinavia. She entered service under her current name and operator in 2010.

M/S Princess Anastasia

MS SPL Princess Anastasia is a cruiseferry owned by St. Peter Line. Until September 2010, she was known as Pride of Bilbao, operated by P&O Ferries on their PortsmouthBilbao route. The vessel was built in 1986 as Olympia at the Wärtsilä Perno Shipyard in Turku, Finland for Rederi AB Slite, Sweden for use in Viking Line traffic. She was sold by Irish Continental Group to St. Peter Line in December 2010.

The SPL Princess Anastasia made her first voyage for the St. Peter Line in April 2011. She set sail from Saint Petersburg on 31 March and docked in Stockholm the next day on 1 April, completing her first passenger voyage since September 2010.

The ferry now operates on a circular service from Stockholm to St Petersburg stopping in Tallinn (Estonia) on the outward journey and Helsinki (Finland) on the return journey.

M/S "Mikhail Sholokhov" is a four deck vessel built in Germany in 1983, refurbished in 2001. It is named after a famous Russian writer. The ship was specifically designed and built for river and coastal cruising in Russia, equipped with modern nautical equipment.

The ship features cabins of different categories located over four decks. Public areas include two spacious dining rooms, three bars, one of which with a magnificent panoramic view, dance hall, beauty salon, souvenir shop and doctor’s office. There is also a spacious sun deck for you to relax and enjoy the scenery. The dining rooms offer both - continental and local Russian cuisine.

All ship cabins are outward facing, with big picture window. All cabins are equipped with a small fridge, satellite TV, air conditioning, safe, private W/C with separated shower area. Laundry service is also available. The ship is not equipped with wheelchair access and elevator. Please also note the ship does not have extensive soundproofing so you may hear noise from air-conditioning and other machinery onboard at any time.

If you want to have an exciting travel experience on board the comfortable and well-tended river vessel, m/s Chekhov is your choice. This ship is one of two, representing the Austrian project of river cruise-liners, designed as an alternative to the German-made vessels of project 301 and 302. It favorably differs from them with a higher cabin standard and innovative design of public areas. M/s Chekhov was built in 1978 and has gone several refurbishments to keep up with standards appropriate for Western travelers.

This classical river vessel, built in Germany in 1991 and completely refurbished in winter 2013-2014, is a well-run motor ship and the ideal size for river voyage on Russian Waterways. There are many river vessels in Russia and the M/S Sergey Rachmaninoff is one of the best. During its refurbishing according to the highest European standards, special efforts were made to create maximum comfort. All cabins are outside (with the exception of the lower deck) and have a promenade walkway outside the cabin and large picture window which can be opened (with the exception of the lower deck). Every cabin has a private bathroom (completely renovated in 2013-14), individual air conditioning\heating control, radio and wardrobe.

Outside you will find spacious decks with loungers, chairs, and tables. All these luxuries will allow you to admire the beauty of the river’s landscapes.

The staff on board offers friendly and efficient service to make you feel as comfortable as at home.

The 212- passenger MS Rostropovich, owned from the Crucemundo cruise company in Russia, was built in Prague in 1980 and was completely refurbished in the year 2011. The cruise ship was named after legendary Russian cellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich, who is considered one of the greatest cellist of the 20th century.

The same could be said about the four-deck ship, which cruises on the Volga. The MS Rostropovich is undoubtedly one of the most luxurious cruise ships on Russian waterways. Imperial Russia Train

The Imperial Russia private train and tour is run by Russian Railways themselves, so you can be sure of an authentic Russian experience with knowledgeable local guides every step of the way.

On one of the most modern trains in Russia, you will experience incredible views, and personal service, along the most famous railway of all, the Trans-Siberian. Travelling can be a daunting experience, but as this train is private it is only available for those who book this tour; making it perfect for those who would like to travel alone, or prefer to travel as a large group, with someone on hand at all times to help answer any questions.

With planned excursions at every stop along the route, including in Moscow, Beijing and at the serenely beautiful Lake Baikal, you can be sure of an experience you will never forget.

Two restaurant cars, and one bar car, are available on the Imperial Russia, alongside in-cabin dining for all classes First Class and above, meaning that you never need worry about finding a seat. Both restaurants, and the bar car, are decorated in a traditional style fit for the epic journey across Russia.

Throughout the journey traditional Russian cuisine will be served, alongside traditional Russian drinks, though a wide selection of both food and drink, including cocktails, will be available.

During the day you will be able to listen to lectures on the Trans-Siberian and the regions that you will pass through from local experts, and in the evening live music will be performed.

The Golden Eagle has been carefully designed with emphasis on your comfort, relaxation and enjoyment. In addition to our private en-suite sleeping cabins, we offer a beautifully appointed Bar Lounge Car and Restaurant Cars.

The perfect location to relax and unwind as you watch the ever changing scenery pass by. Reminisce the day’s adventures with fellow passengers over afternoon tea or perhaps challenge your friends to a game of cards before dinner.

Throughout your journey the Bar Lounge Car and Restaurant Cars will host a variety of entertaining and enriching activities such as Russian language lessons and engaging lectures on local history and culture from expert guest speakers.

It is also here that our Tour Manager will organise a programme of activities for the journey ahead. Daily itineraries detailing train arrival and departure timings and information on the following day’s excursions and activities will be provided, plus useful weather forecast and time zone information.

As evening falls, enjoy the sounds of the resident pianist playing on the baby grand piano in the Bar Lounge Car. Each night the bar stays open until the last person leaves.

Each morning, enjoy a bountiful breakfast buffet in our beautifully appointed restaurant car, offering a fresh selection of fruit, cereals, cold plates and freshly squeezed orange juice. For something more substantial enjoy a breakfast cooked to order by our onboard Chef, all accompanied by steaming hot tea and coffee.

At lunch and dinner you will be welcomed by our resident Guest Relations Manager to enjoy a delightful culinary experience inspired by the countries we venture through. Whether it is some of Russia’s gastronomic specialities, such as black sturgeon and red pacific salmon caviar or our quality international cuisine, all meals are skilfully prepared by our Executive Chef and his onboard team, using the very best ingredients and locally sourced wherever possible. Vegetarian and other dietary options are also available.

Attentive service and an excellent choice of wines, personally selected by our Company Founder, Tim Littler, accompany all our meals at lunch and dinner, in addition to bottled mineral water, draught beer and soft drinks.

Expect a relaxed and convivial atmosphere at meal times with the freedom to dine wherever, and with whomever, you please in a single sitting. An informal dress code is applied throughout the journey.
