The journey takes 3,5 hours, and when you arrive in Krakow, you will be met by our local driver and transferred to your hotel.  Later, in the afternoon, meet our local tour guide for a 4-hour walking tour of Krakow. You will explore this historic city and its medieval square, the largest in Europe, where the 16th-century Cloth Hall and St. Mary's Basilica with the world's largest Gothic altar is located.  The guide will take you through the cobblestone streets of Old Town up to Wawel Hill, the site of the castle of the Polish monarchs. This evening you are invited to a Chopin Piano concert in the historical chambers of Bonerowski Palace in Krakow. Overnight in Krakow. (B)

Today you have a full-day private tour with an English-speaking escort/ driver who will assist you with all sightseeing arrangements. The first stop is Auschwitz - the tragic symbol of World War II. The tour is in two parts, Auschwitz I, the Holocaust Museum, and Auschwitz II, the less frequently visited Birkenau extermination camp.

Later, in the afternoon we leave Auschwitz and travel to a fascinating 13th-century engineering marvel and monument; the Wieliczka Salt Mines. This underground kingdom consists of over 300 km of galleries carved out of rock and salt deposits. Overnight in Krakow (B)

Day 5  : Polish Countryside

A choice of a trip to Zakopane or Czestochowa

A choice of a trip to Zakopane or Czestochowa. These tours are both private, with car and English-speaking driver/guide.

The first option, Zakopane, takes you to a charming Polish mountain resort at the foot of the majestic Tatra Mountains. The town is known for its unique wooden architecture, traditional Polish cuisine, and Krupowki Street, where you can shop for local arts and crafts.  Take the funicular to the top of Mt. Gubalowk, one of the most beautiful areas in the Tatras, for a sweeping view of the mountains.

The second option is a trip to Czestochowa, the Polish Catholic spiritual center in the south of the country.  You will tour the monastery and its grounds with a Pauline monk, who will show you the miraculous painting of the Black Madonna. Return to Krakow in the evening. Overnight in Krakow (B)
