This ensemble is extended by the eastern wing of the General Staff building, the Menshikov Palace and the recently constructed Repository. The Palace is surrounded by a beautiful park famous for its fountains. There are 144 of them, all operating without the use of pumps by a combination of naturally generated water pressure and magic. Hello Dora,

First I want to thank you for all your hardwork organizing our trip to Russia, especially considering the different departures and visas for several of us.  All in all, it was a very exciting trip. And since the trip went so well, it is very likely WMA will offer it again in the near future. With that being said, Kathy Gorski and I wanted to provide feedback about some specific on the actual schedule, as well as what we thought were the highlights and some suggestions for changes.

We enjoyed Red Square and the Kremlin, but would have liked more time at the Armory museum.

Circus was fun and enjoyable, but we felt that the circus was not "ready" for us on the back stage tour.

We all loved the local park in Moscow across from the bridge with the trees and locks for the newly married couples, plus the children's memorial in the park.  Both Kathy and I felt that should be included on every tour.

We loved the overnight train but there was some confusion about if breakfast was included.  It was not, so the kids were starving the next morning on the bus to Peter and Paul Fortress.

Fortress was interesting and Masha did a great job with St. Isaac's.

Ballet was great-even the boys enjoyed it.

How could anyone not love the Hermitage.

Again Masha was excellent with her knowledge and not just focusing on art but all aspects of the museum.

We love the restaurant "Stolle".

The literary walk was ok.  Next time we would have the students read something by Dostoyevskiy.

The students loved the palaces (Catherine Palace and Petergoff) and the World War II memorial was fascinating.  It was interesting to learn more about the Russian history of the war.

And we all enjoyed the folk performance, though we did wonder if it would be better at the start of the tour in St. Petersburg to better understand some of the dolls and headpieces we saw in various shops. One the last day in St. Petersburg we arranged with Masha a canal tour.  We all loved it and I would definite suggest adding in on a tour.

We also want you to know how much we enjoyed Masha as a tour guide.  She was knowledgeable on her city but also very open and engaging with all of us.

While Olga was knowledgeable, she was not as relaxed as Masha was.  She did not seem to be flexible with our schedule.

I would have liked to spend some time at the flea market outside of the Kremlin.

And while the historical places are great, Russia has such a history in the fields of science and space.  We would have enjoyed a visit to a science or space museum, if it was available.

While it was great that all the restaurants and meals were arranged for us, it would have been educational for all of us to just pick a restaurant for us, but not the meal.

Again please realize we loved the trip.  Every thing went smoothly, the kids were great, and we learned a lot.  However, just a few suggestions for our future trips.

Thank you,
Donna Barone
