Day 1  : Arrival in Krakow

Your Eastern Europe Tour starts in Krakow. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a stroll through Old Town before the welcome dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Krakow. (D)

 

Day 2  : Krakow

Join a guided tour of Krakow after breakfast.  This tour will take you to the main Market Square, St. Mary's Basilica and the Cloth Hall with its historical trade pavilions. You will visit Collegium Maius; the oldest College of the oldest University in Poland, as well as Wawel Hill with the Royal Castle and Cathedral. Enjoy a stroll through the old Jewish Quarter; Kazimierz.  Dinner tonight is at a local restaurant accompanied by live folk music. Overnight in Krakow.  (B, D)

Day 3  : Krakow - Wieliczka

Depart for the Wieliczka Salt Mine after breakfast. The 800-year-old salt mine is the oldest in Europe and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.  You will see the many underground chambers, including St. Kinga's Chapel, complete with sculptures and relics, all carved from salt. The afternoon is free to do as you please, relax, take a walk or do some shopping.  Dinner tonight at your hotel. Overnight in Krakow. (B, D)

Day 4  : Krakow - Bratislava

You depart for Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, after breakfast. Arriving around noon, you will have time for a stroll through Old Town, and a visit to Bratislava Castle,  an impressive and massive rectangular building with four corner towers, located on top of a rocky hill directly above the Danube river.  Dinner at your hotel. Overnight in Bratislava. (B, D)

Day 5  : Budapest

After breakfast you leave for Budapest, arriving around midday.  The sightseeing tour of Pest will take you to Hero's Square with Millennium Memorial, to the wonderful city park - Varosliget Park with Vajdahunyad Castle, the Opera, St. Stephen Basilica and the Parliament. Take a stroll along Vaci Street and enjoy the interesting traditional shops and many lively restaurants. Dinner tonight at a local restaurant with live gypsy music. Overnight in Budapest. (B, D)

Day 6  : Budapest

Breakfast, and then a sightseeing tour the other side of the city: Buda. Visit Buda Hill and Castle, the Matthias Church, Fishermen's Bastion and Gellert Hill for a great view of the city.  Continue to Margaret Island, a green island in the middle of the Danube in Budapest, for a stroll. Dinner and ferry cruise tonight with a special program, "Budapest by night." Overnight in Budapest. (B, D)

Day 7  : Vienna

Depart for Vienna, Austria, after breakfast, and arrive in the early afternoon. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Vienna which includes the Ringstrasse; a grand boulevard encircling the city, the Parliament which is located on the Ringstrasse, and the magnificent buildings of Town Hall and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Enjoy your dinner tonight in one of Vienna's Grinzing wine cellars. Overnight in Vienna. (B, D)

Day 8  : Vienna

After breakfast, the sightseeing tour of Vienna will take you past city parks and Hofburg Palace, the former imperial palace. Today, part of the palace forms the official residence and workplace of the President of Austria.  Next, you will see Schoenbrunn Palace, a former imperial summer residence.  The 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historical monuments in the country.  Dinner in your hotel. Overnight in Vienna. (B, D)

Day 9  : Prague

After breakfast, you will depart for Prague, in the Czech Republic. City sightseeing in Prague includes a visit to Hradcany, the largest ancient castle in the world, dating from the 9th century. Here you can take a stroll along Golden Lane, a narrow alley with small colorful houses connected with 16th-Century alchemists. You will visit St. Vitus Cathedral, the Loreto; a remarkable Baroque historic monument and a place of pilgrimage with captivating history. Next, take a stroll through the Jewish Quarter and see synagogues, cemeteries, and legends, ending the sightseeing at the Krizik Singing Fountain, an outdoor amphitheater with water fountains, live music, ballet, opera and dance shows. Dinner at your hotel. Overnight in Prague. (B, D)

Day 10  : Prague

Today's tour will take you to Prague's Old Town. Take a stroll across the famous Baroque Charles Bridge and visit the Main Market and Old Town Hall where you will have a wonderful view of Prague. Farewell dinner tonight is at a local restaurant. Overnight in Prague. (B, D)

Day 11  : Departure from Prague

After breakfast, transfer to Prague airport for your flight home. (B)
